Helping my personal trainer promote his business

I happened to mention to my personal trainer that I was a keen photographer. He is setting up a new website to promote his services and build up his client portfolio, so I offered to take some portrait shots for him to use. A gym environment isn't the ideal studio to use so we waited until the gym had closed on a Sunday afternoon to provide a little more flexibility. I also had to ensure there was no-one else accidentally caught in the background.

It was the first time I had photographed someone doing a job, and we discovered it was actually really hard to create the ideal facial expression whilst working out. Grimacing too hard looked aggressive, but smiling made it look too posed. In the end the best shots were inevitably those where he was just relaxed, like the one above.
